Exam Dates

The mandatory Grade 6 French Ministry Exam for 2025 will take place over four days:

  • June 2nd – Reading: Literary Text
  • June 3rd – Reading: Expository Text
  • June 4th – Writing: Planning and Drafting
  • June 5th – Writing: Revising, Correcting, and Final Copy

Objectives

The French exam is divided into two sections: Writing and Reading. Each section has specific objectives:

Reading: Your child will need to demonstrate their understanding of a text by identifying key ideas, answering questions accurately, and making inferences by combining clues from the text with their own knowledge.

Writing: Students will be evaluated on how well they adapt to the writing situation, the coherence of their text, the use of appropriate vocabulary, correct sentence structure and punctuation, and their mastery of spelling and grammar rules.

Permitted Materials

For the writing and reading tasks, your child will be allowed to use the following materials:

  • Checklist
  • Spelling lists
  • Standard or specialized French monolingual dictionary
  • Grammar books or grammar guides
  • Conjugation tables
  • Correction code
  • Posters
  • Any other tools regularly used in class
